    Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya conferred the Highest State Civilian Awards 2024 at a grand ceremony held at the Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium in Guwahati. The event, attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, celebrated outstanding contributions across various fields, from defence and science to arts, sports, and social work.

    Top honour: Assam Baibhav

    The state’s highest civilian award, Assam Baibhav, was conferred upon Lt. Gen. Rana Pratap Kalita (Retd.) in recognition of his distinguished service.

    Assam Saurabh Awardees

    The Assam Saurabh, the second-highest honor, was awarded to six individuals for their contributions in various domains:

    Subramanian Ramadorai – Academics

    Dr. Bappi Paul & Dr. Purabi Saikia – Environmental Science

    Dwipen Baruah – Art & Culture (Singer)

    Hemanta Dutta – Art & Culture (Dramatist)

    Uma Chetry – Sports (Cricket)

    Assam Gaurav Awardees

    The Assam Gaurav, recognizing significant contributions in diverse sectors, was awarded to:

    Wildlife Conservation – Phuleswari Dutta, Barekuri Village (represented by Dipllob Chutia), Hati Bondhu NGO (represented by Pradip Kumar Bhuyan)

    Sports – Meenakshi Das (Motorbiking), Parthib Sundar Gogoi (Football)

    Handicrafts – Dhirendra Nath Paul (Terracotta Artisan), Haridas Das (Brass Metal Artisan)

    Social Work – Binong Teron (Student Coaching)

    Aquaculture & Agriculture – Nazrul Haque (Fish Farming), Biswajit Borah (Agriculture & Allied), Bharat Ch. Kalita (Dairy Production)

    Art & Culture – Barlangfa Narzary (Folk Music), Ram Sashoni (Singer & Artist)

    Startup/MSME – Upamanyu Borkakoty, David Pratim Gogoi

    Eco-Tourism – Choran Ahem (represented by Mangal Singh Teron)

    The prestigious ceremony witnessed the presence of cabinet ministers, senior government officials, and other eminent dignitaries, marking a momentous occasion in celebrating Assam’s finest achievers.
