Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit, set to take place in Guwahati, will be expanded into a state-wide initiative. District Commissioners (DCs) have been directed to facilitate the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) ranging from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 50 crore within their respective districts.

During a video conference from his office in Dispur, Sarma emphasized the need to involve every part of the state in the summit. He stated that although the main event will be hosted in Guwahati, the entire state should benefit from its opportunities. To achieve this, a decision was made to decentralize the execution of MoUs, allowing districts to play an active role.

Sarma disclosed that 2,590 small-scale MoUs amounting to Rs 15,911 crore will be executed at the district level, bypassing the main summit venue in Guwahati. He urged DCs to ensure the signing ceremonies align with the objectives and significance of the summit.

In addition, the Chief Minister instructed DCs to arrange screenings of the mega Jhumoir Binandini event across all 800-plus tea gardens in Assam. Acknowledging that it would not be possible to accommodate all enthusiastic dancers at the grand event at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati—where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present—Sarma stressed the importance of enabling tea garden communities to experience the cultural extravaganza from their respective locations.

Industries and Commerce Minister Bimal Bora, Chief Secretary Ravi Kota, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. KK Dwivedi, and other senior officials participated in the conference, underscoring the government’s commitment to ensuring inclusive participation in the Advantage Assam 2.0 Summit.
