Assam Cultural Trust’s summer workshop wraps up with colour, culture, and creativity in Guwahati

The Assam Cultural Trust, in collaboration with Pragjyoti Sanskritik Samaj, successfully concluded its five-day summer workshop on Saturday at the Pragjyoti Cultural Complex, Machkhowa. Held from July 16 to 20, the workshop drew enthusiastic participation from 147 children and teens aged 4 to 18, offering hands-on learning in art and craft, traditional Assamese vocal music, yoga, and meditation.
The event opened on July 16 with a vibrant inaugural ceremony graced by renowned folk artist Jina Rajkumari as chief guest. Md Khalid Umar, Chairman of the Socio-Cultural Committee of the Assam Cultural Trust, officially inaugurated the workshop, which aimed to nurture young talent and deepen cultural roots.
Throughout the week, students engaged in immersive sessions designed to unlock creativity and encourage connection with Assamese traditions. The workshop served as a dynamic platform for cultural exploration and self-expression.
The closing ceremony on July 20 was equally grand, featuring Rahul Chandra Das, Director of Cultural Affairs and Secretary of the Assam Cultural Trust, as chief guest. He was felicitated for his outstanding contribution to promoting cultural values in the state, alongside Bolin Bordoloi, Advisor to the Socio-Cultural Committee.

Addressing the young participants, Das delivered a motivating speech on the importance of creativity, cultural pride, and community involvement. He praised the participants’ enthusiasm and distributed certificates of participation, applauding their dedication and talent.
Chairman Khalid Umar also addressed the gathering, commending the coordination and commitment of the Assam Cultural Trust team and thanking all dignitaries and partners for their support.

Advisor Bolin Bordoloi spoke about the cultural integrity of Assam, while Vice Chairman Balendra Kumar Das emphasised the importance of unity and assimilation through shared cultural heritage.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Arup Goswami, General Secretary of Pragjyoti Sanskritik Samaj, who credited the successful execution of the workshop to strong community involvement and collaboration.
The Summer Workshop 2025 stood out not just as an educational program but as a celebration of Assamese heritage—fostering creativity, cultural awareness, and unity among the next generation.
