Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday inaugurated Peerless Hospital in Guwahati, a 300-bed multi-speciality facility built by the Peerless Group as part of the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment drive.

The hospital, located at Ahom Gaon in Garchuk, marks a major milestone in the state’s push to attract private investment in critical sectors like healthcare. The project was born out of a Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, and according to the Chief Minister, it represents one of several MoUs now progressing toward implementation.

“Many of the agreements signed during Advantage Assam 2.0 are at various stages — some companies have already launched, others are under active discussion. Peerless is a shining example of what’s possible when government and industry work together,” Sarma said at the inauguration.

He praised the Peerless Group’s evolution from one of India’s oldest financial companies into a respected name in healthcare, noting that with two successful hospitals already operating in West Bengal, its expansion into Assam signals rising investor confidence and a clear step forward for medical services in the state.

Peerless Hospital Guwahati begins operations with 100 beds and will scale up to 300 by 2026. The facility brings Eastern India’s trusted clinical expertise to the Northeast, offering advanced diagnostics and integrated tertiary care across specialities like cardiology, neurology, nephrology, orthopaedics, oncology, and trauma care — all under one roof.

Jayanta Roy, managing director of Peerless General Finance and Investment Company Ltd, thanked the state government for its proactive support and highlighted the seamless coordination that made the project possible. “Today marks a milestone for Peerless — bringing our 30-year legacy of ethical, patient-first care to Assam and the Northeast,” Roy said. “We’re proud to be part of Assam’s healthcare transformation. Peerless stands for ownership, trust, and excellence — and with this step, we reaffirm our commitment to serve, heal, and grow together.”

Despite infrastructure growth, the Northeast continues to face gaps in access to advanced medical care, forcing thousands of patients each year to seek treatment in metro cities. Peerless Hospital Guwahati aims to bridge that gap, offering metro-grade healthcare locally and easing the financial and emotional toll on families across the region.

With the launch of Peerless Hospital, the Advantage Assam 2.0 vision moves one step closer to reality — not just in attracting investment, but in delivering tangible impact on the ground.
