Assam carried a massive demolition drive in Assam Meghalaya border
In a massive demolition drive over 100 houses and shops illegally constructed on PWD lands from Byrnihat to Jorabat in Assam Meghalaya border along Assam side were demolished by the Assam Government with the aids of Earth Digger or Earth Mover vehicles on Friday morning.
The demolition drive was carried out by Executive Magistrates, senior police officers and CRPF personnel since Thursday.
According to one resident of 13 Mile, Rinku Deka lauded the demolition drive carried out by Assam Govt as there has been a large scale illegal construction of shops and houses in PWD land.
He also alleged that there were some miscreants who illegally collected Rs.50 or Rs. 200 from these shops in the name of Assam Government.
