Arya Vidyapeeth college students explore communication and mental health with expert Karishma Sharma

The Department of English at Arya Vidyapeeth College organised an interactive session on communication and mental health, led by Karishma Sharma, Founder and Director of Midrise Consultancy. The session aimed to equip students with practical strategies for personal and professional growth while emphasising the deep connection between clear communication and mental well-being.
Sharma, a communication expert, social worker, and mental health practitioner, underlined that communication is a two-way process—true effectiveness lies not just in speaking but in ensuring the message is understood. She guided students on how to communicate with clarity and confidence, strengthening relationships and self-expression.
A core theme of the session was mental health awareness. Sharma stressed that mental health is as important as physical health and encouraged students to normalise seeking help. She created a safe, supportive environment for participants to share challenges, advocating self-compassion and mindfulness as tools for handling emotions.
The highlight of the programme was the introduction of Sharma’s customised initiative—EAT (Expressive Art Techniques). This innovative program integrates mindfulness and art-based activities to help students and professionals manage stress, build resilience, and develop emotional intelligence in everyday life.
“My goal is to provide accessible tools that uplift confidence and improve communication skills while making mental health care an easily acceptable and adaptable part of life,” Sharma said. “The EAT program is designed to make a profound subject approachable and practical for everyone.”
The session received an enthusiastic response, leaving students with meaningful insights and actionable strategies to apply in both academic and personal spheres.
