Arunachal Deputy CM names 51-ft Lord Parashuram monument ‘statue of strength’, reviews Parashuram Kund development

Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein on Wednesday inspected ongoing development works at Parashuram Kund and announced that the 51-foot statue of Lord Parashuram will be officially named the “Statue of Strength.”
Mein said the project, developed through the combined efforts of the state government, VIPRA Foundation, and local communities, is on track for a grand inauguration by November or December this year.
Under the Riverfront Development Project, several upgrades are underway — including safe bathing facilities, structural protection works, and improved public amenities — to position Parashuram Kund as both a revered pilgrimage centre and a major tourism destination. Following recent flood damage, experts are redesigning certain components to improve safety, accessibility, and the overall visitor experience.

Later, the Deputy CM chaired a coordination meeting with the Lohit District Administration, chief engineers, heads of departments, and public leaders. Discussions focused on transforming Parashuram Kund into a top pilgrimage and tourism hub, boosting security and IT infrastructure, reinforcing riverfront protection, and ensuring effective management of large-scale events.
Participants offered suggestions for the long-term preservation and development of the site. Mein reaffirmed the state’s commitment to safeguarding the sanctity of Parashuram Kund while unlocking its potential as a spiritual and cultural landmark.
He was accompanied by VIPRA Foundation National Convenor Susil Ojha, sculptor Naresh Kumar Kumawat, State Council for IT & e-Governance Chairman Nyamar Karbak, Lohit ZPC Dasula Krisikro, Lohit DC Kesang Damo, retired CE Atop Lego, BJP Namsai District President Ningroo Ong Maio, and other dignitaries.
