Arunachal CM, BRO chief review frontier highway push, vow rapid road boost in border zones

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, along with chief secretary Manish Kumar Gupta, held a high-level meeting on Monday with Lt Gen Raghu Srinivasan, Director General of the Border Roads Organisation (DGBR), to review the pace and scope of strategic infrastructure development across the state.
The meeting focused on the BRO’s ongoing and upcoming projects, especially road and bridge networks critical for both civilian access and military mobility in the remote and border regions of Arunachal Pradesh.
Lt Gen Srinivasan presented a detailed update on the progress of key initiatives, reaffirming the BRO’s dual commitment to socio-economic growth and national security. He emphasised that the improved infrastructure not only enhances regional development but also strengthens India’s defensive posture along sensitive border areas.
Chief Minister Khandu praised the BRO’s dedication and assured the state government’s full support in removing bottlenecks to ensure the timely execution of infrastructure projects. “These developments are vital not just for connectivity, but for the strategic future of our state and nation,” he noted.

Following the meeting in Itanagar, the DGBR visited Ziro to inspect progress on the Frontier Highway Project—a flagship initiative that aims to deliver all-weather connectivity along the international border. The highway is expected to be a game-changer for troop movement, logistics, and economic integration in frontier districts.
Lt Gen Srinivasan highlighted the BRO’s motto “Shramena Sarvam Sadhyam” (Everything is achievable through hard work) and thanked the people and administration of Arunachal Pradesh for their consistent support. He underlined that such civil-military collaboration is essential to the successful rollout of transformative infrastructure in one of the country’s most strategically important states.
