Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday admitted the movement of militant outfits in Garo Hills region.

“We have got inputs and intel about the movements taking place,” Sangma told reporters.

He also informed that the operations have increased in every district of the region.

“That is why the entire intelligence, checks and operations being conducted in every district have increased and that is why yesterday this incident took place in Tura.”

His statement also came after the Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma had alleged the NDFB is actively moving in Garo Hills and is luring the youth to join them.

Stating that the government is very much aware of it, the Chief Minister however said that it would not be appropriate to mention the name of any group without proper intel.

“Yes, movements are taking place and information are there with us but I would not want to name any organization as such at this point in time,” he said.
