Ampareen to launch campaign for LS polls in January

Cabinet Minister and NPP’s candidate from Shillong parliamentary seat Ampareen Lyngdoh has decided to formally launch her campaign in January, next year.

“I will formally launch my campaign sometime on January 8-9,” Lyngdoh told reporters.

Stating that she is mentally prepared for the upcoming LS polls, the East Shillong legislator said, “When the party sees me fit to be an official candidate in the MP, I have to ensure that I visit every village in the coming days. We have only upto April to prepare ourselves as ECI is yet to announce (the election dates).”

“I have volunteered to work hard for this election, to be MP of Shillong parliamentary seat of our state. If people think I fit, they will vote for me. I will try my best,” she said.

She also refused to divulge details and said, “in politics, we do keep our plans secret but we will disclose them when the campaign starts.”

Lyngdoh also hopes that people will accept her candidature as this is the first time that a woman gets an opportunity to be a winning candidate from the Shillong parliamentary seat.

“There has been no woman who has been elected from the constituency. If people think me fit to be their voice as an MP, I am ready,” she said.
