    Minister for Health & Family Welfare Dr. M Ampareen Lyngdoh has led a delegation on an offical visit to Japan.

    She was accompanied by Secretary in-charge Health & Family Welfare Ram Kumar.

    On September 2, the delegation made a visit to Tsurumaki Onsen Hospital to meet with nurses and the director of the institute.

    3 nurses from Meghalaya have been employed at this hospital, through efforts of the State Government and Navis Corporation.

    The delegation interacted with the nurses from Meghalaya and enquired about their wellbeing in Japan.

    A visit to Alive healthcare centre in Tokyo. Alive is a premium Japanese healthcare centre for the elderly was also made. The delegation met with the president of the organisation and discussed the organisation’s desire to hire 10 nurses from Meghalaya. The organisation will visit Shillong on September 17 as part of a job fair to recruit these nurses. 

    The delegation welcomed the opportunity provided by Alive, and has assured the organisation of the full support of the State Government to ensure that nurses from the state can get employed in Japan.

    On September 3, the delegation will call upon the Ambassador of India to Japan at the Embassy of India in Tokyo.

    Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh will travel to Kurihara-shi, Miyagi Prefecture on September 5.

    The minister will visit Mizudori Farm of Yats Corporation Private Limited in order to garner more information and knowledge about the cultivation of Shiitake Mushroom.

    The visit of the minister follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Yats Corporation Private Limited and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and the Hill Farmers Union (HFU) in 2019 for the cultivation of Japanese Shiitake Mushroom in Meghalaya.
