    After 18 years, the family of Rishanki Biam finally got justice as the Court of Sessions Judge, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, pronounced the verdict on March 28.

    The court convicted Aloi Suiam for murder of Rishanki Biam and sentenced to life imprisonment.

    In an official press release, the Superintendent of Police for West Jaintia Hills stated that “Finally, justice has been served whereby on 28.03.2024, The Hon’ble Court of Sessions Judge, West Jaintia Hills District, Jowai, on appreciation of evidence, found the accused Shri Aloi Suiam guilty of culpable homicide amounting to murder and convicted him under Section 302 IPC for life imprisonment. The court has also ordered compensation of Rs. 300,000 to the family of the victim.”

    According to the police, on 06.09.2005, they received an FIR from Linus Sumer, the father of the deceased person Rishanki Biam, alleging that Aloi Suiam had murdered his son on 29.09.2005 in Saphai Village. The case was registered under Jowai PS Case No. 121 (9) 2005, under Section 302 IPC, and was investigated by SI B Singh.
