    In light of the ongoing downpour and potential danger to visitors, the Deputy Commissioner of West Jaintia Hills District, Abhinav Kumar Singh, IAS, has ordered the closure of all tourist spots in the district with effect from May 31, 2025, until further orders.

    Citing continuous rainfall over the past few days, the order notes that the situation “may likely cause danger to the visitors to different tourist spots” and that it is “felt necessary to take immediate precautionary measures in this regard in the interest of public safety.”

    The directive was issued under Section 34(m) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, and passed ex parte owing to the urgent nature of the matter.
