Air Raid simulation today: Sirens and Blackout to begin at 6:28 PM

The Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Meghalaya, Shillong has issued important revised instructions for all citizens regarding the mock exercise on Air Raid Precaution scheduled for today.

All citizens are requested to kindly note and adhere to the following instructions:

Action Warning (Incoming Air Raid): At 6:28 PM, a siren with fluctuating or warbling notes will be sounded for 2 minutes to warn citizens of an incoming air raid (simulation). Citizens are requested to move indoors and seek cover for safety.

Blackout: At 6:30 PM, a temporary shutdown of electricity will commence and last for 2 minutes. Citizens are requested to switch off inverters during this period. Vehicular traffic will not be affected and may move about as normal.

Raiders Passed (All Clear): At 6:32 PM, a siren with a steady pitch will be sounded for 1 minute, indicating that the air raid is over (simulation) and the blackout will conclude. This also marks the end of the mock exercise.

The Directorate has thanked all citizens for their cooperation and assistance in ensuring the success of this drill, which is carried out for public safety and the Nation’s security.
