Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM)- Central Executive Board President George Prince Momin has demanded the immediate scrapping of the result of Field Engineer declared by the Meghalaya State Watershed Development Agency, Meghalaya Shillong for violation of the Job Reservation Policy.

In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Momin informed that the personal interview results declared by the said Agency totally ignored the Meghalaya State Job Reservation Policy in declaring their results for the post of Field Engineeer in the  “Communtiy owned Small Multipurpose Reservoirs in Meghalaya”.

Out of the 16 candidates  declared successful, only one Achik/Garo candidate was selected which reflects the direct denial or negligence of the existence of State Job Reservation Policy.

The letter informed that  there is also a dire need to fill all the post with the local candidates as the success of any project depends on the community participation. However, only one person from Garo community is selected indicated that the Authorities of the Agency under the Government of Meghalaya is not interested for the success of the projects in Garo Hills.

The organisation demands that the above results declared be scrapped immediately and the new results be declared upholding the Meghalaya State Job Reservation Policy.

They also want an enquiry committee to be set up against the person responsible for his illegal acts wherein the State Job Reservation Policy was directly or indirectly nullified while declaring the results.

The letter also warned eruption of  multiple agitations in Garo Hills  and threatened to drag the Authorities of  Agency into the Court of law for the failure to uphold the existing policy.
