After panchayat and RHAC polls, BJP gears up for upcoming BTR elections

Following an unprecedented victory in the Panchayat elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now gearing up for the upcoming Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections, scheduled to be held in September this year.
The party’s preparations are at an advanced stage, claimed a party press release here on Tuesday.
The release stated that to ensure the BJP’s victory in the upcoming BTR elections, ministers and senior party functionaries have been assigned responsibilities in each BTR district. Accordingly, Minister Ashok Singhal and MLA Diplu Ranjan Sharma have been given charge of Kokrajhar district; Minister Kaushik Rai and Ajay Rai for Chirang district; Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass along with Ashok Bhattarai for Baksa district; Minister Jayanta MallahBaruah and Pulak Gohain for Tamulpur district; and Minister Pijush Hazarika and Pallab Lochan Das have been assigned responsibility for Udalguri district. These appointed leaders have already begun holding meetings with grassroot workers and party officials in their respective areas to step up organisational activities.
On May 29, the assigned ministers and senior party functionaries will meet Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Assam BJP president Dilip Saikia to finalise the party’s strategy for the BTR elections.
Bolstered by the overwhelming support and landmark victory in the recent Panchayat and Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council elections, party karyakartas are determined to maintain the momentum of success in the BTR elections as well.
The statement also expressed the hope that the slew of developmental initiatives undertaken by various departments of the Assam government under the leadership of Chief Minister Sarma, along with the strong organisational foundation led by BJP state president Dilip Saikia will pave the way for the party’s victory in the upcoming elections.
