    The Composite Regional Centre for Skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (CRC), Shillong today organised TLM Kit Distribution Camp at Khliehriat East Community Hall, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat.

    Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat attended the programme as the Chief Guest. Also present during the programme were Ram Shakal Sahani, Officer Incharge, CRC Shillong, R Passah, District Social Welfare Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat and Kedius Rymbai, Local Headman of Khliehriat East.

    Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, in his address stated that a society is judged by how we treat the ones who are less privileged. “Those who are intellectually disabled or disable in any form need all the support that can be offered to them so that they can achieve their potential too”, he said. He also congratulated the District Social Welfare Officer and  the Composite Regional Centre CRC Shillong for taking the initiative to conduct the programme aimed at offering the much needed support to the persons who are less privileged while also requesting them to continue taking such measures so as to ensure that necessary help can be extended to all the disabled.

    Ram Shakal Sahani, Officer Incharge, CRC Shillong in his welcome address highlighted the services provided by the Composite Regional Centre which includes Special Education Department, Clinical Psychology Department, Physiotherapy Department, Training and Mobility, Counseling, Vocational training etc. “Persons with any type of disabilities can visit the CRC Office and register themselves to get all these services free of cost”, he added.

    During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner, Abhilash Baranwal, IAS, along with R Passah, District Social Welfare Officer, East Jaintia Hills District and Ram Shakal Sahani, Officer In-charge, CRC Shillong distributed Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) kits to the beneficiaries with intellectual disability who participated in the programme.
