    In pursuance of the order issued by the Political Department and in view of the steadily rising Covid-19 cases in the State, the District Magistrate had imposed additional restrictions on permitted activities.

    The revised restrictions on permitted activities include the Registration in the Meghalaya Covid-19 portal which is mandatory for all persons entering the District including residents at http://meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid/login.htm. Meanwhile the maximum number of persons allowed during any Religious or Social or Private gatherings has been decreased to 50 persons or one-third the capacity, whichever is less for indoors and 100 persons or one-third the capacity, whichever is less for outdoors and the concerned parties should obtain prior permission from the Deputy Commissioner and ensure that SOPs for social distancing are in place and strictly followed.

    For outdoor sports, spectators are permitted upto 100 persons or one-third the capacity, whichever is less. Further, Cinema Halls will have to operate at one-third the seating capacity and places of worship may continue to function at 50 per cent of the seating capacity, however, they shall strictly adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.

    Further, the District Magistrate has instructed every citizen to follow strictly the SOPs issued by the Government and ensure that the district does not see resurgence in Covid-19 cases.

    Further, the District Magistrate, West Garo Hills has advised everyone that wearing of face Mask and Covering the mouth and nose when coming out in emergency which is mandatory and spitting and smoking in public place including office and work places is prohibited. Violators will be imposed penalty by the designated Officers, who have been empowered under Section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 as per the notification issued earlier.
