    In a joint operation by Meghalaya and Assam police, one woman and her child were rescued from her abductor(s) in Assam on Saturday.

    According to police, on June 22nd, last an information was received at Phulbari PS to the effect that two days back some unknown miscreants abducted one woman along with her one and half year old baby from Rongkon Bazar.

    On receipt of information, a case was immediately registered vide Tura Women PS Case No. 84 (06) 2022 u/s 366/34 IPC and investigation was entrusted to WPSI Chemetengsil A. Sangma.

    During investigation, it was learnt on Saturday that the victims have been taken to Dhubri District of Assam and kept in
    confinement at a place called Beltuli under Bilasipara Police Station.

    In order to rescue the victims a joint operation was conducted immediately by West Garo Hills Police and Dhubri Police,
    the abducted victim and her baby was rescued safely.

    One of the abductor(s) identified as Moni Zaman (23 years) S/o Shri Khaybor Ali R/o Shvamding. Ps Phulbari, West Garo Hills was arrested.

    All of them have been brought to
    Tura this morning and the accused person is being forwarded to court.

    Police said the accused person has been allegedly threatening the girl and her family
    members continuously. He allegedly created ruckus in the shop of the father of victim three time this year on 31 March, 8 April and 9 April.

    Another case vide Tura Women PS Case no. 48 (04) 2022 u/s 354/447/506 TPC was registered on 14th April, last and is being investigated by WPSI Tanya C. Marak. Chargesheet in both cases shall be filed soon.
