AANWS honours 40 students, champions education and identity at Charaideo felicitation event

The All Assam Naga Welfare Society (AANWS), Charaideo District Committee, hosted an educational-cum-felicitation programme on Sunday at Deopani Naga Gaon, Borhat, celebrating academic success and promoting community upliftment through education.
More than 200 villagers attended the event, including 40 students from Naga-inhabited villages who cleared the HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations in 2025. The event aimed not only to recognize their achievements but also to instil a broader sense of purpose and responsibility in the youth.
Wangman Wangsu, youth secretary of AANWS Central Executive Committee (CEC), chaired the programme, while Amit Nokte, president of the Charaideo District Committee, delivered the welcome address. Nokte highlighted the importance of education in driving progress within the community.
The programme featured motivational talks from key speakers, including Dr. Shomkai Manham, Assistant Professor, Gargaon College; Pennai Wangnow, SDO, APDCL, Demow Branch and Biren Nokte, Assistant Teacher.
They urged students to approach their futures with dedication, resilience, and a mindset focused on both academic and societal responsibility. The speakers emphasized that success lies not just in clearing exams, but in becoming agents of positive change within society.
AANWS Central Executive Committee president Shompha Wangsu delivered a powerful message encouraging youth to balance their cultural roots with modern aspirations. He called on them to embrace a community-first approach in their personal and professional journeys.
Community leaders also joined in support of the initiative. Notable attendees included Chief of Siloni Naga Gaon Sachin Lowang, Ponglih Mikham (WBCA Youth Secretary), Sakai Arangham (Gaon Burha), and Putai Wangnow and Lobo Wangsu of the Deopani Welfare Society.
