  • 93 per cent voter turnout in repolling at Selsella

    SHILLONG: Over 93 per cent voters came out to exercise their franchise during repolling in a polling station under Selsella Assembly segment of Tura parliamentary constituency on Monday.

    The repoll for both the Lok Sabha election and Selsella by poll in the Konarchar polling station was ordered based on the recommendation of the Returning Officers after detecting mismatch due to human error that led to criss-crossing of the voting machines.

    The Konarchar polling booth has a total number of 712 voters.

    State’s chief electoral officer FR Kharkongor informed that the poll percentage for the Lok Sabha was recorded at 93.40 per cent while 93.12 for the bye-election.

    It may be mentioned here that elections to the Shillong and Tura parliamentary seats was held along with the Selsella by poll on April 11. Counting of votes will be held on May 23.
