    Another eight persons were arrested in connection with the killing of a KSU activist during a clash at Ichamati near Shella village in East Khasi Hills District.

    Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) GK Iangrai on Wednesday informed that officials of the Crime Investigation Department (CID) have successfully arrested another eight persons in connection with the incident which took place in Ichamati on February 28.

    (L) Lurshai Hynniewta, a KSU member succumbed to his injuries after being attacked by non-tribals at Ichamati village on February 28.

    The clash occurred after an anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act and demand to implement Inner Line Permit rally at Ichamati organised by KSU and Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People’s Federation.

    Meanwhile, the AIGP also informed that a total of 70 accused have been charge-sheeted under relevant section of Indian Penal Code and Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.
