  • 8-month-old baby died at NEIGRIHMS after tested positive for COVID-19, death toll rises to 2

    An eight-month-old baby admitted at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGHRIHMS) died after tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the baby boy and his parents came from Arunachal Pradesh to NEIGRIHMS at 2am on Monday. 

    “The baby was admitted in critical condition. Samples of the family including their driver were taken. The baby was tested positive while his parents were found to be negative,” he said. 

    Dr War said the baby however later died at the hospital. 

    “Death toll due to COVID has rises to 2 in the state,” he said.

    It may be mentioned here the first COVID patient in the state was a 69-year-old senior doctor and founder of Bethany hospital Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang. He died 24-hour after being tested positive for COVID-19.
