  • 72-yr-old COVID-19 patient dies at NEIGRIHMS, death toll rises to 13

    A 72 year old COVID-19 patient died at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital on Wednesday morning, taking the death toll in the state to 13. 

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the patient has been identified as Dilbhadur Biswa from Nongmynsong, Shillong.

    Dr War said the patient was brought to the emergency room of the hospital at around 1.03 am on Tuesday and expired at 8.45 am today. 

    “The cause of death is due to type-2 respiratory failure and the antecedent cause is COVID-19. The patient was also suffering from chronic obstructive airway disease,” he said.
