Seven Bangladeshi nationals along with two Indian facilitators were apprehended by the Border Security Force (BSF) and state police at a checkpoint in Pynursla, East Khasi Hills District.

The incident took place on Saturday, BSF said.

In view of ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, BSF Meghalaya has assessed and heightened security along the Indo-Bangladesh border adopting a multi-tier domination strategy, they said.

All the apprehended illegal Bangladeshi migrants with Indian facilitators handed over to concerned police station, for further disposal and legal action.
