  • 64th Teachers’ Day: East Jaintia Hills recognises dedication of educators

    East Jaintia Hills joined the rest of the country in celebrating the 64th Teachers’ Day with a programme at Khliehriat Higher Secondary School Auditorium on Friday. The event was organised by the District School Education Officer.

    Rymbai–Khliehriat MDC Violet Lyngdoh, who attended as Chief Guest, praised teachers as guiding lamps shaping individuals and communities. She congratulated district, state, and national awardees for their dedication and urged teachers to remain kind, humble, and inspired.

    Additional Deputy Commissioner S.R. Marak highlighted the importance of teaching as a disciplined profession and commended the selfless service of teachers. He also encouraged students to strive for academic excellence as a tribute to their mentors.

    District Awards 2025 were presented to:

    • Laura Suja, Assistant Teacher, Khliehriat Higher Secondary School (Secondary Level)
    • Lairemzoma Thianglai, Headmaster, Saipung Govt. U.P. School (Upper Primary Level)
    • Wiles Singh Langstang, Head Teacher, Sohkymphor Nein Govt. L.P. School (Lower Primary Level)
    • Memorial Nongtdu, Khliehriat Presbyterian Higher Secondary School (District Best Guide Captain)

    The celebration also recognised notable district achievements, with Dr. Heipor Uni Bang, Principal of K.B Memorial Secondary School, Wapung, receiving the National Teacher Award 2025, and Tasiana Kympat, Assistant Teacher, Tluh Secondary School, securing the State Award 2025.

    Students from various schools added colour to the programme with songs and dances.
