    Meghalaya continues to witness a surge in the COVID-19 cases as fifty-two more persons tested positive on Monday, taking the tally of active cases in the state to 610.

    Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said of the 52 cases, 39 are from West Garo Hills district that include 29 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers and 10 civilians, 11 from East Khasi Hills district of which 10 are civilians and 1 armed forces, and 2 from Ri Bhoi district.

    He also informed that eight patients have also recovered today taking the total recoveries to 498.

    The new recovered cases include 3 civilians in East Khasi Hills and 5 including 1 BSF and 4 civilians in West Garo Hills.

    Of the 610 active cases in the state, Dr War said East Khasi Hills has 427 cases which include 267 civilians, 91 BSF troopers and 60 armed forces personnel.

    There are 85 cases in Ri Bhoi, 65 in West Garo Hills, 15 in West Jaintia Hills, 6 in East Jaintia Hills, 6 in West Khasi Hills, 2 in South West Garo Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills and 2 in North Garo Hills.
