Marking India’s 79th Independence Day with a blend of patriotism, environmental action, and rural development, Daring Pathfinders launched a bold community initiative in the pristine village of Pesamhuru. Under “Mission FRUIT,” the organisation distributed 500 papaya saplings to 40 local households, aiming to link ecological restoration with community livelihoods.

The day began with the national anthem, followed by a formal meeting with the Village Development Committee and residents. Each household is committed to adopting and caring for the saplings, reinforcing a shared responsibility for the project’s success.

Daring Pathfinders CEO Hriday Jyoti Ojha described the mission as “more than a plantation drive—we pledge to ensure holistic development of nature while supporting the socio-economic well-being of our communities. Every seed we sow today will bear the fruits of prosperity, harmony, and sustainability for tomorrow.”

General Secretary Kirtiman Borah outlined the implementation strategy, emphasising capacity-building, ecological balance, and community ownership. The Village Development Committee will oversee sapling care and ensure long-term benefits for both people and the environment.

An art competition, involving nearly 30 local students, added a creative spark to the celebrations. Winners were recognised in a prize ceremony that brought together villagers of all ages in a spirit of pride and unity.

Village Executive Niren Teron expressed gratitude to the community and organisers, hoping the initiative “will soon begin to bear fruit—both literally and socially.”

Special thanks were extended to Briksha for supplying saplings and aiding community outreach, and to Dr. Prasanna Mazumdar for guidance and support.

Daring Pathfinders see this event as the start of a sustained effort to regenerate biodiversity, create micro-income streams, and demonstrate how community-led conservation can deliver tangible environmental and social gains. The organisation plans to work closely with Pesamhuru’s residents and partners to ensure the saplings thrive and future harvests strengthen household incomes while restoring the local ecosystem.
