    A 50-year-old lady was arrested with heroin from Jhalupara on Wednesday.

    She has been identified as Aisha Khatoon alias Pahari, a resident of lower paltan bazar, East Khasi Hills SP Sylvester Nongtnger said on Thursday.

    Khatoon was arrested during a joint operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of East Khasi Hills, Shillong, in collaboration with Lumdiengjri Police Station and Jhalupara Outpost.

    From her possession, 73 vials containing suspected heroin, weighing 9.72 grams, 4 mobile phones and cash amounting to Rs 7,410 were seized, he said.

    A criminal case vide Lumdiengjri PS Case No. 103/24 u/s 21(b)/27A NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation is currently underway.

    “This successful operation highlights the unwavering commitment of Meghalaya Police in its efforts to combat and eradicate drug trafficking within the State,” the SP stated.
