  • 5 dies after MTC bus plunged into a river at Nongchram

    Five persons died after a Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) night bus traveling from Tura to Shillong plunge into the Ringdi River at Nongchram on Thursday morning. 

    The incident took place at 12 am, police said. 

    Rescue team from Rongjeng and Williamnagar Fire and emergency services rushed to the accident site for helping the victims.

    Five people have been confirmed dead other injured are being shifted to Rongjeng PHC for medical assistance, they said.

    Rescue attempts are on to save lives. 

    As per the list collected by the police from concerned counters there were 9 passengers from Tura and 12 passengers from Williamnagar.
