5 arrested with Russian made pistol in Mawsynram

Five persons were arrested with a Russian made pistol from Mawsynram in East Khasi Hills District on Sunday.

They have been identified as Aidonsing Nongsiej (40), Orally Khardewsaw (33), Wanrilang Nongkynrih (33), Mossingstar Nongbri (28) and Pynshailang Puwein (30), police said.

The arrest was made by the special cell/SOT along with officers and staff of Mawsynram police station while conducting naka at Mawsynram, they said.

From their possession, one Russian made pistol and four live .22 ammunitions, six mobile phones, one voter ID card, one Pan Card, one ID card of National Hynniewtrep People and one ID of Ministry of Defence.

Also two tourist vehicles – No ML 05 1319 & ML 05 AA 7184 were also seized during the naka.
