5 arrested along with heroin in Shillong

Five persons were arrested along with heroin and cash worth Rs 1.92 lakh.

Based on a tip off that narcotic drugs were being smuggled into Shillong, a naka was set up by East Khasi Hills anti-narcotic task force (ANTF) at View Point, Mawiong, police sources said.

On checking of vehicles and passengers, two vehicles bearing No ML05 V 2798 (Alto 800) driven by Joseph Dsouza and passenger Combest Syad and another vehicle bearing No AS01BJ 5139( Maruti Zen old model) driven by Ricky Kharhujon with passengers Adalu Chawang and Boni Chachei were stopped and checked in the presence of independent witnesses, they said.

Narcotics in plastics were recovered from 9 soap boxes which preliminary tested positive for heroin and weighed 100.66 gms, was seized. A sum of Rs 1, 92,050 has also been seized. An NDPS case is being taken up against the accused persons.
