    Four more extortionists, including a woman, were apprehended along with several counterfoils and extortion receipt book of ‘Ki Khlur u Hynniewtrep’ by the special cell of East Khasi Hills Police at the Palace Hotel in Iewduh, Shillong.

    Police have received an FIR stating that on the evening of October 26, the suspects demanded an amount of Rs. 15,000 and arrived to collect it on Friday.

    A case has been registered under Lumdiengjri PS C/no. 146(10)23 under section 384/506/34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

    Notably, on Thursday, four persons were arrested from two commercial centers in Shillong. They were caught attempting to serve extortion notes to local businesses. Police confiscated various items from the suspects’ possession, including three extortion letters from the Hynniewtrep People Defense Alliance (HPDA), three extortion receipt books of HPDA, two donation receipt slips connected to the United Khasi Movement (UKM), two donation receipt slips linked to the Federation of Khasi United People (FKUP), two donation receipt slips from the Confederation of Meghalaya People (CMP), one counterfoil receipt slip from the Khun Hynniewtrep Youth Council (KHYC) and two donation receipt slips from the Hynniewtrep Youth Regions (HYR). Police also seized one Scooty Aprilla with the registration number ML05 Q 9828 and four mobile phones.
