4 including 2 woman arrested with heroin in EJH

Four drug traffickers were arrested with heroin in East Jaintia Hills District on Monday.  

They have been identified as Sahin Hussain Laskar, Rofiqul Alom Laskar, Mamta Sinha (all three are from Cachar Assam) and Maya Gwala of Pynthorbah Shillong, police said.

Acting on information that two persons along with one lady were travelling in a private car from Silchar side and carrying illegal contrabands, a naka was set up at Umtyra by ANTF team of East Jaintia Hills. The vehicle was stopped and a search was conducted in the presence of witnesses. 15 soap boxes containing heroin weighing 164.99 grams were found tied in the legs of the lady, they said.

Initial interrogation was done and it was revealed that the consignment was to be delivered to one Maya Gwala alias Puchki who was also arrested in Khliehriat, police said.

A case was registered with the Khliehriat police station and further investigation is on.
