Four out of five suspended Congress MLAs have been appointed as co-chairmen in the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government.

A notification issued by Principal Secretary in-charge Power department Dr P Shakil Ahammed on Friday said Mawlai legislator PT Sawkmie and West Shillong legislator Mohendro Rapsang have been appointed as Co-Chairmen of the MNREDA.

Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem was also appointed as co-chairman of Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Rambrai-Jyrngam MLA Kimfa Marbaniang as co-chairman of Meghalaya Government Construction Company (MGCC).

The appointment of four MLAs is with A+ category which includes perks and facilities.

Meanwhile, the state government is yet to reveal the assignment given to CLP leader and East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh.

The five MLAs have been suspended by the Congress, which termed the support to a BJP-backed government as “anti-party”.
