The 3rd Meghalaya Chemistry Olympiad (MCO-24) will be held on Thursday across various centres in Meghalaya, including Jowai, Shillong, Nongpoh, and the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM).

The Olympiad is being organized by the Department of Chemistry, USTM and is supported by the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK, one of the most prestigious organizations in the field of chemistry.

This year, the Olympiad has seen tremendous enthusiasm, with over 1,100 students registering to participate—a record-breaking number that underscores the event’s growing significance among students passionate about science.

Speaking in this regard, Dr Golam Mohiuddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, USTM and convener, MCO-24, said, “The involvement of the Royal Society of Chemistry, UK adds immense value and credibility to the Olympiad, making it a truly remarkable occasion for all participants.”

“We sincerely thank the schools, their principals, teachers-in-charge, and guardians for their unwavering support. Finally, we extend our warmest wishes to all the students taking part in MCO-24. We hope this event will not only be a learning experience but also a chance for them to showcase their talents. Good luck to all the participants,” he added.

The Meghalaya Chemistry Olympiad aims to foster scientific curiosity, promote academic excellence, and provide a platform for students to demonstrate their potential. With such enthusiastic participation and the involvement of international organizations, the event promises to be a grand success.
