  • 3 youths infamous for a viral video of stunt performance with Maruti Car in Laitumkhrah apprehended

    The Meghalaya Police has apprehended three persons along with the Maruti Car used by them for performance of stunt drive in Laitumkhrah Police Point, Shillong and booked under relevant sections of Indian Motor Vehicles Act as to deter such stunt performance in public places.

    Police said the wee hours of 1st December, last a  White Color Maruti 800, without any registration plate or number was captured in a video and seen driving recklessly and dangerously with loud noise at Laitumkhrah Police Point.

    Police said the vehicle was also seen to have dashed the wall of the round-about at Laitumkhrah Police Point.

    Following the incident, a suo-moto case was registered by the Police at Laitumkhrah Police Station vide No. 105(12)2023 under Section 279 of IPC and various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

    The video footage had also gone viral in social media and also promoted the Laitumkhrah Dorbar Shnong Pyllun to also filed an FIR in the Laitumkhrah Police Station and was it treated as supplementary FIR to the primary suo-moto FIR.

    During the course of investigation the aforesaid vehicle involved in the dangerous stunts at Laitumkhrah Police Point was traced by a team of the Laitumkhrah Police, led by OC Laitumkhrah from a garage at  Laitkor Kyntonmon.

    Police said three persons were apprehended who admitted to having been involved in the dangerous driving after consuming  alcohol. The vehicle is identified to have the registration No. ML05 U 4845.  All the three accused along with the vehicle have been brought to the Laitumkhrah Police Station for further questioning and legal action.

    Police appealed to the youth to refrain from such stunt driving which will put not only themselves but others on the road at risk. The public is also requested to provide information  on such activities by dialing 112 .
