    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said three persons who had attended the walk-in interview for the post of data entry operator (DEO) in Ri Bhoi District are suspected to be COVID-19 positive.

    War said that the three are contractual employees of the health department in the district and was having duty at the checkpoint at Byrnihat.

    “They (contractual staff) had also appeared for the interview for the DEO post. However when they complained, we conducted a truenat test and they came out positive. The three persons were immediately brought to a Corona Care Centre in Shillong. As they are suspected to be COVID-19 positive, we have run the RT-PCR tests on them and results are being awaited,” Dr War said.

    The district administration of Ri Bhoi has also issued an advisory asking all candidates who had appeared for a walk-in-interview for the post of DEO to go for home quarantine for 14 days.

    The walk-in-interview for the post of DEO was held in the Deputy Commissioner’s office at Nongpoh on July 11.

    “All persons who appeared for the walk-in-interview…are advised to go for home quarantine for 14 days with self monitoring of their health by wearing masks, social distancing & hand washing,” Deputy Commissioner RM Kurbah said in a statement issued here.

    “During the period of quarantine, should any of the symptoms – fever, cough and difficulty in breathing is developed, first isolate yourself and contact the district control room no 03638232028/1077 and health helpline no. 8787520449,” the statement said.
