    Clads in their uniforms of blue colour jainsem a local traditional dress wore by women in Eastern Region of Meghalaya, around 250 women who rendered their service as ASHA took out to the busy streets of Jowai Town to voice out their demand for increment of their monthly honorariums on Tuesday.

    Led by Meghalaya ASHA Workers Union President M June Myrsing, the ASHA workers traversed through to the main road of Iawmusiang to Newhill and culminated in madan Daimasi Ladthadlaboh.

    Some carried placards and banners with slogans demanding their rights for increasing their honorariums while some carried their babies on their backs.

    After the peaceful culmination of their procession, the ASHA Workers held a public meeting in madan Daimasi where they unanimously resolved to continue with their agitation of cease work till their demands are met by the NPP led MDA Government.

    Firing salvo at the statement issued by Health Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh accusing ASHA demanding hike in their increment after the Anganwadi workers got hike in their honorariums, Myrsing said that the ASHA works hand in hand with Anganwadi and they are demanding their own rights.
