  • 23 high risk contacts of wedding attendees tested positive for COVID-19

    As many as 23 persons have contracted the COVID-19 infection from the patients, who had attended the wedding party at Greenwood Resort in Assam, last month.

    Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said that 23 persons tested positive for coronavirus are high risk contacts of the wedding attendees.

    It may be mentioned here that a total of 47 persons had attended the wedding party which includes 39 from East Khasi Hills and 8 from Ri Bhoi

    FIRs against 35 persons from Shillong have been filed so far for violating the COVID-19 protocols.

    The state government had recently directed the district administration of East Khasi Hills and Ri Bhoi to file additional FIRs against another four persons, who were also found to have attended the wedding party.

    The 47 had attended the wedding party at Greenwood Resort, Guwahati on June 27 and a reception at Shillong on July 2.

    Earlier only 41 persons, who had attended the wedding party, were found to have violated the COVID-19 protocols by intentionally skipping the coronavirus screening and testing at Byrnihat entry-point in Ri Bhoi District while returning from Assam to Shillong.
