    Two persons were arrested while trying to loot and stabbing a pedestrian in Nongrim Hills on Friday.

    The incident took place at 8.10 pm when the accused persons came in a black scooty and committed the crime.

    The arrested persons have been identified as Kitbok Thabah (27) from Golflink and Melvin Tongwah (22) from Lumshyiap, East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said in a statement.

    “Following many complaints from pedestrians of being looted by two unidentified persons in  a   black scooty, a Special Team from Laitumkhrah  Police station led by OC Laitumkhrah,  Insp Lily Nongkhlaw  along with some good Samaritans  nabbed the (accused) persons  in  the black scooty near NEC Nongrim Hills while they were trying to loot one pedestrian and stabbed him with a screwdriver from his stomach,  at about 8.10pm today,” he said.

    He informed that two cases have been registered in Laitumkhrah  this year against them for robbery in two instances one on 10.04.25 @8.30pm near Bawri Mansion where they looted Rs19000 while another incident reported was  reported on 3.06.25 at 7pm near Nagaland House where they looted Rs5000 .

    It has been gathered that they have been committing  such acts on many others who however have not come forward. Melvin Tongwah was earlier arrested this year for looting people around Polo and was arrested  by Pasteur BH, the SP said.
