    The Meghalaya Police on Saturday destroyed ganja (marijuana) weighing 1477.76 kilograms on the occasion of Nationwide Drugs Disposal Day.

    The Ganja (Marijuana) were seized in connection with Khanapara PS & Nongpoh PS and were destroyed with the aid of incinerator in Star Cement Coy. Limited, East Jaintia Hills District.

    The exercise was observed by DNR Marak, IPS, Dy. Inspector General of Police (E/R), Jagpal Singh Dhanoa, IPS, Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills District, Superintendent of Excise Ri-Bhoi District, B Jyrwa, MPS Addl Superintendent of Police East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat, K Prasad, MPS Adl. Superintendent of Police Ri-Bhoi District Nongpoh, J Mairom MPS Dy. Superintendent of Police (HQ) Khliehriat and others.

    The destruction of the ganja was live streamed for the regional meeting on Drug Trafficking and National Security at Guwahati, which was chaired by Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Ministers, Chief Secretaries, Secretaries and DGs of North Eastern States.
