A 12-year-old boy was charred to death after a fire broke out, which totally destroyed a house in a village under Sohra Civil sub-division.

The indicent took place at Sohkynduh village at around 9.30 am on Sunday.
The house belonged to one Phaitding Dkhar, a grassroot leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP).

Confirming the incident, KHADC chief Titosstarwell Chyne said that the incident had taken place when the family was preparing food to feed pigs near the house. However, as it was very windy, the cooking fire must have spread to the house, he said.

The deceased has been identified as B Pohnong, who is also the son of Dkhar.

According to Chyne, another boy was also rushed to Sohra CHC after he was also injured during the fire incident.
