12 arrested for illicit selling of liquor

The office of the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills District conducted raids against selling of illicit liquor in restaurants, stalls in the town and its outskirts.

During the month of May, 2023, the Excise staff detected 13 cases with a seizure of 22.100 litres of i/d liquor and 46.885 litres IMFL. In this connection, 12 persons have been arrested under the Excise Act.
