    Minister in-charge Social Welfare Kyrmen Shylla informed the Assembly that there are 292 villages that requires an integrated child development services (ICDS) centre.

    On the reason for non-reopening of ICDS centres in the uncovered villages, Shylla said being a centrally sponsored scheme proposal of additional aganwadi centres have been taken up with the government of India and the sanction is awaited. 

    He said the expected number of children affected due to non-availability of ICDS centre is 10,500.

    Congress legislator from Umroi George B Lyngdoh urged the minister to speed up taking measures to ensure ICDS centres are set up. 

    On this, the minister informed that the department had sent the proposal on June 14, 2019 while reminders were also sent twice on February 5 and March 9, this year.
