To commemorate the 100th episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, the monthly radio broadcast of Prime Minister, Narendra’s Modi, a special live screening of the popular radio programme was today organized by Prasar Bharati, the autonomous body of the Ministry of I&B, in collaboration with Raj Bhavan, at Raj Bhavan Shillong.

The occasion was graced by the Governor of Meghalaya, Phagu Chauhan as the Chief guest and eminent personalities in different fields and public representatives attended the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that since its launch in October 2014, the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme has been a transformative force in highlighting the collective strengths of the people of India. The programme has showcased the life journeys of grassroots level achievers who have brought a positive change in the lives of others. Moreover, it has deepened the connection between Prime Minister Modi and the citizens, inspiring them to become agents of change in the development of the nation.

Referring to Asia’s cleanest village, Mawlynnong, the crystal clear Umngot River, the whistling tunes of the Kongthong village, and the Cherry Blossom Festival, which have all found mention on the Prime Minister’s Twitter handle and Mann Ki Baat programmes, the Governor stated that the Northeastern region, especially Meghalaya, have found a special place of pride in the Man Ki Batt programme.

The Governor further praised Meghalaya for becoming the first state to have formulated its own water policy, which has been applauded by the Prime Minister. He also acknowledged the efforts of the frontline workers during the pandemic, which were highlighted in Prime Minister’s ‘Mann ki Baat’ on numerous occasions.

Stressing that powerful communication can bring about positive influences in people’s lives, the Governor urged all the guests to spread positivity in society.

Besides experience sharing by Thomlin Khongthohrem, Mawlynnong Headman, and by Rothel Khongsit, a representative from Kongthong Village, a documentary on ‘Mann Ki Baat’ was also screened on the occasion.

The Governor also inaugurated an exhibition on Change Makers and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organized by the Central Bureau of Communication, Shillong.
