1 arrested in raping a girl in Shillong, police conducts manhunt to nab another

One person was arrested for his alleged invovlement in raping a girl at Malki, Shillong on Saturday, police said.

Police are also conducting a manhunt to nab his friend, who was also involved in the crime and is absconding, they said.

The action was taken after an FIR was lodged with the Laitumkhrah police station naming the two accused persons.

During investigation, poice arrested Andy Malngiang (19) while Reuben Mawthoh is still absconding.

Malngiang has been sent to 14 days judicial custody. He was booked under 351 (3) and 70 (1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
