Tura District Cricket Association clinched the Meghalaya Cricket Association’s U-19 Boys Inter District Cricket Tournament title with a convincing six-wicket victory over East Garo Hills DCA in Salpara, Mendipathar.

Despite East Garo Hills’ dominance throughout the season, including a win over Tura, it was Tura DCA that triumphed in the final. East Garo Hills struggled, posting a low total of 89 runs, which Tura DCA chased down comfortably, losing only four wickets and still having 10.1 overs to spare.

Chandra Thapa was the standout bowler for Tura DCA, taking 3/18 in 8 overs, with one of his wickets being the top scorer for East Garo Hills, Thunun N Marak, who managed 20 runs. The only other East Garo Hills batsman to reach double figures was Lensbirth N Marak, who scored 16 before being dismissed by Ben Haden N Marak (2/21 in 7 overs). Yash Mishra also contributed with 2/12 in 3 overs.

Tura DCA’s chase was made easy by Shahin Alom, who scored 42 runs from 43 balls, including two fours and four sixes. Although he was dismissed just before the end of the match by Gulgul Sangma (2/16 in 7.5 overs), Ben Haden had the honor of hitting the winning run.

The final was attended by senior MCA and district association officials. Tura DCA was presented with the champions’ trophy by MCA President Naba Bhattacharjee, while East Garo Hills DCA received the runners-up trophy from MCA Joint Secretary Chiang D Shira.
