    The District Magistrate West Jaintia Hills District has promulgated Section 144 CrPC in order to prevent any law and order situation arising out of a land dispute between Maskut village and Tyrchang village under Thadlaskein C&RD Block.

    The order was necessitated following a dispute between the two villages due to felling of pine trees in the area in a plot of land in Rashi Ryndem.

    According to an order issued by the District Magistrate, Non FIR Case No. 15/2023 Pt-I U/S 145/107 CrPC and Non FIR Case No 38/2023 Pt-I US 145/107 CrPC has been registered in the Court of the Executive Magistrate. The Headmen of both Maskut and Tyrchang villages have executed bonds U/S 107 CrPC in the Court of the Executive Magistrate.

    The order prohibited the assembly of more than 5 (five) persons in Rashi Ryndem (disputed area).

    Carrying of any lethal weapons by any groups or individuals and felling of trees in the disputed area is prohibited.

    The order banned the carrying of forest products from the disputed area
