Meghalaya restricts heavy trucks on fragile Jadi village bridge
To prevent the collapse of a fragile wooden bridge on the 87th kilometer of Jadi village road, the Meghalaya Transport Department has issued a notification where all heavy trucks are now strictly limited to a gross weight of up to 9 metric tons when crossing the bridge.
Concerns over the bridge’s structural integrity prompted this decision, as it is deemed vulnerable to heavier loads.
This precautionary measure prioritizes commuter safety and aims to prevent potential mishaps caused by overloading, safeguarding both lives and infrastructure.
